President's Message

Dear coaches and guests,

In this newsletter, I wanted to share the story behind our theme for 2020 - to support professional coaches to have a successful and prosperous coaching business!  However, amidst our current pandemic, it didn’t seem timely. So, I will leave it for another email.

On March 26th, I was supposed to be in Fort Worth, Texas representing our Orange County chapter for the 2020 ICF Global Leaders Forum. As with most large gatherings, due to travel restrictions and health concerns about the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), GLF 2020 has been shifted to a virtual event. We are fortunate to have these virtual opportunities to continue to learn and more importantly to connect as we practice social distancing.

As coaches we are leaders and have the skillset to make a profound difference in challenging times.

In the next few weeks or perhaps months, we will experience unprecedented circumstances and all sorts of impacts. Most of us entered the coaching profession because we love supporting people. As such, I believe we have an opportunity to be of service to our families, friends, clients, teams, businesses and communities as they deal with their concerns. Let us lead the way in being centered, patient, reasoned, compassionate, have empowered perspectives and not fall into the frenzy of chaos.

ICF headquarters has prepared a helpful landing page to provide tools and resources for your life, your business and your clients during this tumultuous period. Please check out COVID-19 Resources for Coaches.

Please feel free to reach out to the board for support – this is the time to be here for each other (share a toilet paper roll with someone, haha).

This too shall pass.
Be safe and healthy.
Sending you elbow bumps 😉

Nourishing Thoughts,
Nanor Ohanesian
ICF Orange County – President

From the Board Room

Above is a photo of Dave, Greta and Nanor meeting at a local coffee shop after taking care of some board banking business - fun times.

Did you catch the February Chapter meeting? It was all about Mastermind Groups. Yes, we had some exceptionally smart coaches present but it wasn’t about individuals, it was all about the power of focused groups. Nahid Casazza (MBA, BCC) was our facilitator or should I say ringmaster since controlling 25 excited coaches who all want to share and participate is very much like a 3-ring circus. We learned how to use mastermind groups for our own benefit as coaches and also the power they can bring to the coaching engagement with our clients. I love to listen to people present who are masters in their field, and that was the case here, but I learn even more when I am able to participate in small groups and experiment with the topic that was presented. Nahid was excellent at breaking us into small groups and assigning projects that reinforced the learning for the night. Contact her if you want to join a mastermind group of ICF Orange County. Membership Renewal Season is Here! Renew your ICF Memberships at coachfederation.org/renew-membership by March 31st. ICF Membership indicates your commitment to the profession and to your clients. But equally important—it is simply an investment in yourself. Also, make sure to join the ICF Orange County (California) chapter.

The International Coaching Week committee has already had several meetings planning ICW and we are preparing a day of fun and education. Here is a photo at a recent zoom meeting. More information to be shared shortly. Thank you to all the volunteers.
