President's Message

Hello friends,

Welcome back from our August break! We have been focusing on a strong 4th quarter, delivering on our commitment to supporting our coaching community to have a successful and prosperous coaching business!

At our first September board meeting, what I discovered is that while it is restorative to disconnect from responsibilities for a while (I am referring to our hiatus in August), I deeply missed connecting with my fellow teammates. I realized that I don’t just volunteer on the board of ICF Orange County with other board members. I have formed authentic relationships, become friends, and truly enjoyed connecting with Dave, Greta, Camber, Petra, Nahid, and Doug. I’m lucky that I have formed a tribe that I admire, trust, and care for. Thank you, friends.

Lesson learned - Disconnect from “to-dos”, don’t disconnect from the relationships. On that note, we have a surprise in the works that we think you will love. Keep your eyes open, we will be sharing very soon!

Make sure to sign up below for ALL the amazing upcoming events. Your participation is what makes these events extraordinary!

Nourishing Thoughts,
Nanor Ohanesian, ACC

Monthly Chapter Meetings

Michael Stratford, MCC was our speaker at September’s Virtual chapter meeting and even Zoom was not able to take away from the authentic, insightful, and passionate words that he shared with the audience. Michael has spoken to us a number of times over the years and yet he always brings a fresh and challenging perspective to today’s coaching issues. He is a true example of master coaching and treats every question as if he was working one-on-one with his most important client. As an early ICF member, MCC, and long time contributor to the credentialing process he acknowledges coaching as both a profession, a management tool, and a way of life. He left both us tenured coaches and those new to the field equally inspired to continue our quest for mastery in coaching and to leave the world and our clients in a better place. Thanks Michael!

Book Club

This month the book club reviewed “The Prosperous Coach” by Steve Chandler & Rich Litvin. The consensus was that this is a great read, but not a great book to listen to. Those of us who bought the audio version felt we lost out while those who bought the book were better able to absorb the words of wisdom at their own pace and also retain the book for easy reference. This is something you want to own and to be able to use as a reference tool in your coaching for years to come. It is full of new insights and fresh takes on things you have heard before but have not applied to build your own practice.

Join us for next month's book club “The Heart of Laser-Focused Coaching” by Marion Franklin. Looking forward to discussing it with you on October 8th!

Programming

Nahid is looking for a few people to help with programs.  If you think you might be interested in being part of a small fun team that works together to continue to put on great programming for our ICF members, please contact her directly at [email protected]
